Im currently doing Oly lessons once a week. and i notice all the top lifters hit the bar high up in the hip crease area. but my coach has been instructing me to hit it on my mid thigh. where is the appropriate part to hit the bar? or is it a personal preference that i should learn both and decide which one works best for me?

if you stay back appropriately the bar will hit high on the thigh. when you stop at mid thigh the bar will touch at mid thigh....but when i go from the ground the bar does not stop at the take off area which is 1" above the knee...that is when the bar starts accelerating!! from here the hips extend and you sweep the bar back and there is a brushing action that hits high on the thigh. but you have to stay back to get that.
